Ford has brought us two all-electric vehicles to the lineup, both of which make quite the impression. There's the Mustang Mach-E, which is a performance crossover with Mustang appeal, and the F-150 Lightning, an electric version of the tough truck that still stands out with high performance. One feature of the F-150 Lightning is an innovative one with the right package. It allows you to charge up other Ford EVs to give them a slight power boost when running low on battery.
A Ford F-150 Lightning or F-150 Hybrid with the Pro Power Onboard package is able to provide a 9.6 kilowatt power supply on EVs and 7.2 kW on hybrids to help charge a vehicle like the Mustang Mach-E to get 20 miles of range in about an hour. It works out great for those in a pinch who need that extra boost, plus it helps generate a lot more than that as well as you can use it on the job site, the tailgate and more to power up.
Currently, this powering of another vehicle is just for Ford EVs, but with an expanded lineup coming in the future, and more EV options being common, we expect this will be a common feature on lots of vehicles like the F-150 Lightning and others that have big battery powered capacity. While we wait, we can discuss all the current new Ford vehicles available here at Lockhart Motor Company and arrange test drives with you today!
